John Wayne: The Genuine Article, a multi-month exhibition created by AMP in partnership with the Wayne family, opened in 2017 at the Gaylord Opryland Resort in Nashville, Tennessee. The interactive exhibition was comprised of six rooms, each exploring a different element of Waynes life and career.
For the John Wayne Estate AMP handled all aspects of production, translating the namesake (and inspiration for the exhibition) book into a physical exhibition, curating hundreds of items, and producing thousands of words of text and days of audio and images. The multimedia exhibition included video, interactive components, custom audio and a myriad physical assets.
John Wayne left behind a lifetime of personal letters, telegrams, speeches, and handwritten notes along with hundreds of film props - hats, boots, and costumes - all of which tell the private tale of his iconic life. Inside the exhibit visitors had the opportunity to live with these priceless memories and experience for themselves the real John Wayne.
The Genuine Article encompassed over 6,000 square feet as well as an additional 1,500 square foot retail section.
